Merredin - La Boheme

8th September 2010

The Bohemians are an idealistic, penniless bunch intent on enjoying the festive season which is the context for this story. Tribulations, celebrations and the troubled triangle of Musetta, Marcello and Alcindoro provide a counterpoint to the genuine and profound love between Rodolfo and Mimi. Love’s greatest enemy, misunderstanding, threatens to sabotage their union; and ultimately their destiny, as everyone knows, is a tragic one.

Puccini’s brilliant music, presented here by a talented Chamber Orchestra conducted by Musical Director, Brian Chatterton, amplifies the drama, and, so long as we believe in these characters, this story inevitably touches our most fundamental human emotions.

Experienced choreographer/director Nick Carroll always aims to entertain, and with its blend of humour, romance and tragedy, La Boheme is fertile material for a complete theatrical experience.

Goomalling - Oak Park

Oak Park Picnic Area and Walk Trail

Located approximately 20km north east of Goomalling. Oak Park has a diverse array of flora and there is always something for the keen photographer to snap. Rain has begun to fill the waterway and we look forward to seeing the Serpent Sculpture in flood once again. The trail now has a bough shelter over one of the seats carefully crafted by one of our Aboriginal Elders in 2008. Please drive carefully on the Oak Park Road as you may come across some Kangaroos. Walking deep into the lake area provides more photo opportunities of gnaled and weathered trees. Facilities at the Picnic Ground include a BBQ, a long drop toilet and covered seating. The Walk Trail signage has lots of information and is a great way to begin your exploration of this special piece of Goomalling.
